New World Order Conspiracy

A New World Order (NWO) conspiracy theory is one in which people believe that an elite cadre of people are looking to connect the world into one large world government. According to theorists, the goal is to connect the entire world under one government which would make sovereign nation-states obsolete. In theory, it would end all international power struggles because all people of the world would be subjects to the one, autonomous world government.

These conspiracy theorists argue that, whenever there are some big political or financial occurrences, it is because of this elite group orchestrating things. Through front organizations, these political and financial leaders are able to make things work in the way that they want. Rather than doing it quickly and taking the world over, these front organizations move slowly, taking small steps in the plot to ultimately achieve world domination. Through meeting secretly to discuss politics and make decisions, this elite cadre is able to take over the world.

There weren’t very many conspiracy theorists before the early 1990s. On one side, you had the militantly anti-government right, who argued that they were allowed to form militias. These groups were primarily arguing against the government infringing on their rights and believed that government was looking to become tyrannical. Furthermore, any attempt by the government to try and take their right to guns away was a big “no-no” in their minds.

On the other side were the fundamentalist Christians who were in fear of the end-time and the emergence of the Antichrist. Here, they were worried that a very charismatic man would come along and take over the world (the Antichrist). Through terrible wars and manipulation, he would be able to achieve control over the entire world. During the 2008 election, it was suggested President Obama was the Antichrist.

New World Order conspiracy theories are consistently appearing and disappearing. The one thing that typically stands the test, though, is the belief that there is a secret group trying to form one autonomous regime that controls the entire world. Any serious political or financial decision is done because this secret group of “cigar smoking, brandy drinking” elite people want it to happen. In the end, whatever happens is brought about because this group wants it to. While there is little evidence to suggest these conspiracies are true, they still continue to dazzle people and, at the same time, scare them.
